How to make a pom pom
Make it, love it, share it!
There are many different ways to make a pom pom! Here is the way I do it.
This tutorial uses worsted weight yarn and makes a 2-inch pom pom. The thicker the yarn you use, and the more times you wrap the yarn, the bigger your pom pom will be!
Start by cutting 2, 12-inch lengths of yarn and set them aside.
Begin wrapping the yarn around the end of the book. Not too loose, not too tight.
When you get to the end of the book, push the wrapped yarn over to make more room.
Continue wrapping. The more times you wrap, the bigger the pom pom will be.
For this 2-inch pom pom, I wrapped the yarn 60 times.
Cut the end of the yarn, and pull the wrapped yarn off the hook.
Lay the wrapped yarn on top of the 2 strands you cut earlier.
Tie each strand of yarn around the center of the wrapped yarn.
Tie them tightly!
Cut each loop of yarn.
Your pom pom now looks something like this.
Continue trimming until your pom pom is even all the way around.
One way to make sure you've trimmed enough- the strands all stick straight out without flopping over.
